Ashton strikes again

Earlier this evening, Ashton went to the bathroom. After, he came to the living room and said,

"I couldn't find any soap in the bathroom so I washed my hands with toothpaste instead."

I stood there and stared at him for what seemed like forever, waiting for a follow up of "I'm just kidding." Thoughts were going through my head, such as:

Did he not open the cabinet under the sink which would reveal about 8 bottles of hand soap?, Does he really think toothpaste and hand soap are the same?, Gross!, and, Why is he not saying he is kidding?!

What am I going to do with this kid!
